Remember Those Who Went Before

Memorial Day.

The name conjures up one of two memories: military funerals (without protests by sick, demented, people posing as Christians); and the other of the neighborhood pool opening. Personally, i could care less about the second one. My local pool is a meat market for the local middle and highschoolers.

Its the former i want to talk about. America as a nation seems to have a selective memory. On one hand we remember vivd detail from the 1972 World Series when the Oakland Athletics beat the Cincinatti Reds 4 games to 3 (who cares?). On the other hand we choose to forget our past, and we choose to not learn from it. We choose to forget the millions of fallen heroes who died on forgien soil and are buried in foriegn graves -- those that were blessed enough to have been able to be buried. We, as Amercians, owe our very lives to those brave souls, who by volunteering to be put in harm's way, have kept us from it. Thank you.

Do your duty as a citizen. Thank a veteran.
